Week 4 Authority

CHARGE!

Passivity and passion cannot coexist.

A true warrior is a person of action who pursues the lost, seeks wisdom, trail-blazes through new terrain, and cultivates his gifts. He seizes the day and makes the most of his choices;  every hour of his life is accounted for and idle time has no reign.

A true warrior keeps his mind on Christ, and learns how to develop a deeper-longing for God.

A real champion rejects apathy and mundane religion.

What makes this man a hero is the way people see Jesus in his actions, words, and attitude.

A great man finds his character in scripture and lives a life that summons the virtues of the saints into our modern-day.

What makes this man a hero is the way people see Jesus in his actions, words, and attitude.

How does a noble warrior harness and model these traits?

He learns and lives the Word.

All authority is given by God.  God’s word gives us His plan to operate within the power that authority commands.  The victory you are looking for is on the other side of obedience and submission to His authority.

For the past few weeks, you’ve been reading devotions and scriptures that have been carefully crafted and selected for you. During this fourth week you will find your own scriptures and journal your own devotions.

As you do this, the promises in the Word of God will define you, cultivate your gifts, increase your wisdom, kindle your passion, increase your authority, and make you the hero you are called to be.

Daily Plan for Week 4

Use the form after each week to submit your discoveries and revelation. Your responses will be collected and highlights will be posted to a revelation page for your group that will be available for access by next week’s group session.

DAY 1 | EXAMPLES IN THE BIBLE

What hero in the bible do you admire and look up to? Use the internet or Bible App to find their story in the bible. Read their full story and discover their strengths and weaknesses. Write down a key scripture that sums up their character. Journal and share your discoveries.

DAY 2 | THE UNDERDOG

In scripture there were plenty of underdogs that overcame the impossible; Aaron, Gideon, and Daniel to mention a few. Which underdog in the Bible do you connect to the most? What scripture in the bible speaks of their transition from being an underdog to becoming an over comer.  Journal and Share your discoveries.

DAY 3 | GOD’S AUTHORITY

God’s got a plan, and He’s given us what we need to carry it out. Look up and journal the definition of authority. Now, research authority in the bible. Find two scriptures on authority that inspire you. Journal and share the scriptures and the revelation God shows you about your life through those scriptures.

DAY 4 | FIGHTING FOR OTHERS

In the teaching for this week, we ascribe value to having others see Jesus’s character manifest in our lives. Find three references where the Bible gives us orders to follow as believers to show Jesus’s love through us. Consider how you can obey those orders this week and share. Then, do what you know.

DAY 5 | THERE’S A FIRE WITHIN

Being passionate can either be linked to circumstances, or it can be linked to truth. We have been driven by our feelings and counterfeit desires in our pasts. Even being God in the flesh, Jesus had to take intentional steps to keep focus on truth and not circumstances. Research what Jesus did to keep His connection to the Father passionate. Jot some notes in your journal, and then process what you’d have to do to make that a reality in your life.

DAY 6 | TAKE A MINUTE

What keeps you for doing this passionate pursuit of God in His word every day, every week, every year of your life? What do you make more important than this process? Keep in mind the barriers to growth aren’t always “bad” things, sometimes they are just improperly prioritized things. Spend time in prayer repenting (agreeing with God that His way is better) of the things you’ve allowed to clutter your time with Him in study. Jot down the biggest hurdles, and then pray through those hurdles to allow God to show you creative ways to build your capacity as a warrior. Share what you learned on that journey.

DAY 7 |  DISCUSS IN SMALL-GROUP

1.       Share the deepest response you had with God in your searching the bible this week.

2.       Tell the group what it took for you to begin this journey toward personal exploration in the word.

3.       Who did you fight for this week?

4.       What has siphoned your passions this past week?
